Diamond Park
August 11, 2009

Diamond Park
Diamond Park was opened in August 2004 after Life Church recognising the deep need in the local community for a facility, where children could play safely and their parents and others from the locality could meet and befriend one another.

Whats There
Diamond Park, Staverton Crescent, Lincoln. LN6 0YW the only children’s play park in the locality, was planned in consultation with local residents, managed by Life Church (Lincoln) and funded by grants from Doorstep Greens, Cory Environmental, Esmee Fairburn and others.
The resulting Park covers an area in excess of 1250square meters, has a fenced dedicated toddlers area with slide, swings and a play hamlet, a trim trail for teens etc with climbers and other equipment, all sited on wet-pour safety surfacing.
The gardens have picnic tables and seats with other bench seats located around the parks diamond centrepiece.
Each day the park is opened and closed by local residents who also assist in litter-picking etc. All maintenance is carried out by Life Church, with a team of church volunteers keeping the gardens in good condition.
Events
Each year Life Church organises a number of free community events in the Park often with free food, entertainment and free games for all. All of these events have attendances of over 200 people and normally have visits from civic dignitaries including the Mayor of Lincoln, The Sheriff of Lincoln local councillors and others.
The Affect There is evidence from our local police officers that since Diamond Park has been in operation there has been a drop in local community disturbances and other crime in the vicinity. We believe this is partly due to the relationships that have been built between local residents as they have met each other in the park at events or when their children have played together in the park. We also believe that the other main factor in the success of the Park is that since its conception the church has consistantly prayed that it would be used in some way to transform the surrounding community. There are clear signs of Gods favour over the project with such a low level of vandalism and damage in the Park that it confounds all of the normal expectations for such a project.

What Is Alpha?
May 1, 2008
The world famous Alpha Course is a 10 week course, run on a regular basis, offering people the opportunity to explore “the meaning of life” and the role Christianity plays in providing the answer.
The session is run during the week, when a meal is provided followed by a talk on the night’s topic and an opportunity to discuss the evening’s session over a cup of tea or coffee. The evenings are very relaxed and are a great chance to meet people at all different stages of their Christian journey.
The Alpha course – is currently run by Life Church Lincoln three times a year. Please contact the Life Church office for details of the next Alpha course HERE.
