Project YES

Project Completed

As a church that believes transformation of community is of vital importance we have for the last 6 years run a youth work titled. Y.E.S. (Youth Educational Services). YES consisted of an After Schools Club and various youth clubs. Project Y.E.S. was funded by Children in Need and other grant making organisations. All of the Y.E.S Activities took place in the Birchwood Community Hall, (The Old Boiler House) Woodfield Avenue Birchwood
Against Children in Need normal policy YES gained further funding in 2010, which with support from Life Church enabled the project to continue for a further 3 years. This funding has now come to an end and YES has closed
Below is an outline of the activities that took place at YES

The After Schools Club was designed for children school years 4 to 6 and ages 8 to 11, running between 15.30 to 17.20. Our aim was to give the children a place to go during the twilight hours to finish homework and get creative through supervised structured activities.
Key to the activities was an IT Suite consisting of notebook computers and printers with broadband connection to the Internet. The children were able to gain first hand experience, learning about the potential of computers rather than just using them for gaming.

Creative Arts – Creative Arts – Wednesday evenings 18.00 to 19.30 – School years 6+. One of the themes of Project Y.E.S. was the creative arts workshops. Y.E.S. provided a variety of workshops where the young people had a great time exploring different areas of creative arts such as dance, drama and cookery. The aim was to give young people the opportunity to be creative while learning in a fun and relaxed way.
