We are a church that believes transformation of community is of vital importance. Therefore most of our childrens and youth work is based in the community itself. Y.E.S. (Youth Educational Services) consists of an After Schools Club and various youth clubs. Project Y.E.S. is funded by Children in Need and other grant making organisations. All of the Y.E.S Activities take place in the Birchwood Community Hall, (The Old Boiler House) Woodfield Avenue Birchwood.
TUESDAY – FRIDAY: Y.E.S. – AFTER SCHOOLS CLUB
The After Schools Club is designed for children school ages 4 to 6 and ages 8 to 11, running between 15.30 to 17.20. Our aim is to give the children a place to come during the twilight hours to finish homework and get creative through supervised structured activities.
Key to the activities is an IT Suite consisting of notebook computers and printers with broadband connection to the Internet. The children are able to gain first hand experience, learning about the potential of computers rather than just using them for gaming.
TUESDAY EVENING: OLDER YOUTH CLUB
Open Youth Club – for ages 11+. The club is run like a traditional youth club with pool tables, Nintendo Wii, board games, music and a tuck shop. It provides a place for young people to come rather than hang around on the streets.
Junior Youth Club – Also for children aged school year 4 to 6 ages 8 to 11. Run on similar lines to the open youth group. REOPENING SOON… FRIDAY NIGHTS.
WEDNESDAY EVENING: CREATIVE ARTS WORKSHOPS
Creative Arts – One of the themes of Project Y.E.S. is the creative arts workshops. Comprised of Music Dance and Drama. The aim is to give young people the opportunity to be creative while learning in a fun and relaxed way.
